Anderlecht capped off their Belgian First Division title win with a 3-0 victory over Standard Liege on Sunday.
The win meant Anderlecht’s fans could celebrate their club’s 31st league win in style.
The club from Brussels finished with 52 points for the season, four points ahead of second-placed Club Brugge.
Dieumerci Mbokani gave Anderlecht the lead in the 28th minute and they held on for a 1-0 advantage at half-time.
Matias
Suarez doubled Anderlecht’s lead in the 67th minute and substitute
Fernando Canesin wrapped up the win nine minutes from the end.
Club Brugge also ended their season with victory, holding on for a 3-2 win against Kortrijk.
Maxime Lestienne put Club Brugge in front in the 18th minute.
Carlos
Bacca made it 2-0 four minutes after the break but a strike from Peter
Czvitkovics in the 61st minute gave Kortrijk some hope.
That did
not last long, however, as Bacca scored his second goal just a minute
later, although Brecht Capon’s 76th-minute goal did make for a nervy
finish.
In the other Belgian First Division match on Sunday, Gent defeated Genk 3-1 inspired by a double from M’Boyo Ilombe.
