Georges Leekens has stepped down as coach of the Belgian national team to sign a three-year deal to take charge of Club Brugge.
Leekens
had an ongoing contract with the Belgian football association (KBVB),
but has stepped down from his position as national team boss with
immediate effect.
The Brugge side were in the market for a new coach due to the departure of Christoph Daum at the end of the season.
Leekens
previously enjoyed a spell at Club Brugge from 1972 until 1981 during
his playing career, while coaching the squad from 1989 until 1991.
Club Brugge finished second on the table this term, thus qualifying for the Champions League preliminaries in 2012-13.
