Milan vice-president Adriano Galliani has confirmed reports that the
club will not exercise the options to make loan deals of Alberto
Aquilani and Maxi Lopez permanent.
The Rossoneri signed the Italian midfielder on loan from Liverpool last summer, with the option to make the transfer permanent for €8 million.
Even
though the club chiefs are satisfied with Aquilani’s performances and
would like to keep him at San Siro, they are not prepared to meet
Liverpool’s valuation of the player.
“We will not use our option
to buy Aquilani before May 31. We will reopen talks with Liverpool in
June, though,” Galliani said at a press conference.
Meanwhile,
Maxi Lopez arrived from Catania in a similar arrangement as a
replacement for Antonio Cassano, but the Rossoneri no longer need the
services of the Argentine striker.
“We are satisfied with what he has done, but we will not sign him. Maxi will return to Catania,” Galliani explained.
Maxi Lopez made a total of 11 appearances across three competitions for the Rossoneri and scored 2 goals in the process.
Milan have already agreed to sign Bakaye Traore from Nancy and Fiorentina’s Ricardo Montolivo.
